Getting a Little irritated

In a nut shell, just changed the HU in my 2007 Tahoe, I wanted to keep my onstar/bose systems so i purchased an interface from peripheral. Unit works fine, but since the install (dec 20) every morning I must pull the audio fuse in the fuse block. It seems that the module freezes and will not allow power to the unit. After cycling with the fuse it returns to normal. I have replaced the module twice since the install and its getting a bit irritating. The shop that I had install the system said that "nobody" had a glich free harness for this yr model. They didnt carry the harness in stock so I purchased from another audio shop and had them install it.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. OH! And Merry Christmas

When I turn the ign on, the chimer doesnt work and My onstar button flashes red. I can push the button and nothing happens, but once I cycle the power everything works fine.

I noticed when I pulled the unit out of the dash that they had a cube relay attached, but as for the connections Im at a loss there.

Im going to call in the morning(hopefully they are open) and see if they can figure this out. Should I mention that the relay may not be supplying enough power?

As for amps, this is the only mod so the factory amp is the only thing attached.

Thanks Again

-James

dont sound like they used the right interface, there is 1 that comes with the chime module, call peripheral and tell them the number on your piece and they can tell if it is right.

OK, ran out and pulled the unit, on the interface the only decal on it has :GMAHLANB and below "general motors gm lan onstar interface factory radio replacement retention of Bose Amp and Onstar Option" A little red light that illuminated when i pushed the onstar button and a volume control for onstar.

I will call perripheral in the morning and double check. THe application guide shows that the 2006 and later models to be a different part number. Who knows......Thanks Again and I will keep you guys updated

UPDATE:

Couldnt get ahold of perephrial today but sent an e-mail last night about the problem. This morning the unit worked fine. Ran alot of errands turning the truck off and restarting. Around 4pm I made my last stop and killed the ign. pulled the keys out and opened the door. The head unit stayed on.......puzzled, i restarted the truck and turned the unit off and on with the power button, still nothing. I pulled the radio fuse from the block again and when i re-installed and powered up my onstar system went crazy, started dialing everyone in my phone book and such. SO i pulled it again and that seemed to clear it up. The owner of the audio shop told me this is the down-fall of buying the first gen of interfaces....they will always have bugs. Why even release them or much less sell them if they are this much trouble?

Ive also noticed that the "brake dance" to view videos seem to not work when it has its fits. I have to do the fuse pull to let the system accept the brake sequence to view anything. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt.

Anyone else ever have this much trouble?

UPDATE:

I just got off the phone with Peripheral, they said they havent had any problems or complaints. They said they would ahve an engineer call me about the situation.

NOw I am pretty much stuck with a 150.00 POS, unless there are chances that they will refund my money, and I can purchase a different brand.

UPDATE:

Went to the audio shop that I purchased the interface from and asked them to fix the **** thing. They pulled the unit out and called me to the back. They wanted to show me the mess that was behind the dash, half a$$ taped....a 10 yr old could have done a better job. I had broken tabs and clips for my a/c controls and dash trim. They got on the phone with tech support to make sure everything was going correct. PAC said that they have worked out all problems and it has to be the wiring. The tech started double checking everything to find wires mis-connected and a big mess. I had them install the all in one trigger and everything is working great. Its amazing how a few wires can make a world a difference. They said they have gotten quite a few "repairs" from this shop and can't understand why they are still in business.

I give major props to the guys at Vision Audio( lubbock, san angelo, and midland TX) for the prompt service and the kindness of fixing someone elses screw ups.

As for anyone else in the west texas area stay away from Baldwin Electronics in Odessa.....you may get a great price, but will pay for it in the long run. These guys had my vehicle for almost 3 days for the install ........don't you think they had ample time to get it right?
