Gettin through the fire wall

I have a 2002 Monte Carlo, with a few subs and an amp in it. I did not hook them up, seein as how I really don't know how to. Anyway, I am currently installing neon in my car and I have no idea how to get through the firewall so that I can wire them to the battery. Does anyone have any idea how? Do I have to take off my entire dash to do it? Thanx

Pm

If the battery is on the driver side look under the dash, their should be a group of wires coming through a rubber boot, push a screw driver through it, with a 12-14 ga. wire taped to the end. Use the wire to pull your 4gauge through. Under the dash you may have to losen the fuse box.

Another option....check out the fire wall from the engine compartment. You may find some pre-punched holes in the firewall. All you have to do is knock out the metal punch. Fill the hole with an inexpensive rubber grommet from an auto parts shop. Also, get down on floor of the passenger compartment and look for an open way through. If all else fails, use a drill.

Check out a Monte Carlo Forum, most car specific forums will have a How To and provide pics of where to locate the best opening. Not sure if the Grand Prix is the same chassis, but there is a factory grommet on the driver side (you need to remove one panel) near the brake pedal (comes out behind Brake Booster IIRC) on a Grand Prix (battery on Pass Side)

mymonte.com... i haven't done a 00+ monte in awhile... there is either a rubber boot on the passenger side like in grand prixes, or a rubber boot up by the brake pedal like in the monte's like mine.

ok if they come with a transformer DO NOT i repeat DO NOT run the wires though the wirewall

most transformers put out upwards of 9k+ Volts A/C you do not want to risk that wire rubbing though, find a place behind an interior panel and mount it there

also: wat brand is it

which wires are u running the power wire to the transformer is ok to run though the firewall but the wires to the neon tubes shouldn't go though the firewall, its best to mount an interior neon transformer inside the car not in the engine bay
