am thinking of geting new 2 12's today i have right now 2 12' kickers 4 ohms each and i have a Kenwood Performance Series Compact 2-Channel Power Amplifier - KAC-7205 what would be the best 12 subs to get to push the amp to the max caues right now is pushing like 160 170 each and i would like to max the amp i have $200 to spend only dont know if the amp bridged i can push 500 watts to each 12 subs if its a 2 ohms sub

amp

Features:

CEA Rated: 170W X 2 (1.0% THD+N) (4Ohm/2Ch)

250 Watts x 2 (2 ohm)/500 Watts x 1 (4 Ohm Bridged)

High Quality Speaker Level Input

Blue Illumination

High-pass (12 dB per octave) and low-pass (24 dB per octave) filters variable from 50 to 200 Hz

Variable Bass Boost Control(0-18 dB at 40 Hz)

Cooling Fan

MOSFET power supply

Speaker-level inputs with signal sensing turn-on

Preamp-level inputs and outputs

come on dude the subs i have right now are 4 ohms each if i get 2 ohms subs i should be able to push like 250 each as right now am pushing 160 170 each so i sould be able to get more power at of the amp with 2 ohms subs bridged

You would probably drastically shorten the lifespan trying to get that POS KW to puke at 1ohm/ch

Buy used... I got my JL 500/1 for $150 on eBay, picked it up locally. You can get a much better amp for $200 than what you have now IMO. But don't expect to push 250 for long...
Holy crap, the girl helped someone on the fourm... I don't know what's becoming of this world... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Your talking about 100 watts difference. Thats minimal. If you want a good increase you need to get a larger amp. Is your box ported now? If your sealed it it help to go ported

monoblock amp that will do @ 5-600w at 2ohms each subs ? but the subs i have right now are 4 ohms each monoblock amp would not give them 5-600w if am not wrong so thats why i wanted to get new subs and stay with the same amp and get a lil more lil more juice out of it

Edit : what do you mean by Is your box ported now? DCtC and no its 160 difference not much but a lil more

@ g35chick JL 500/1 for $150 on eBay, picked it up locally can you give me a link and what do you mean pick it up locally its ebay also what can i do with this amp i have 2 12' kickers 4 ohms i would still be in the same boat

When you wire two 4 ohm subs together in parallel it will be come 2 ohm. Thus getting you the correct ohm load required for power.

Honestly, depending on your future goals i would look around and get a better amp then replace the subs as you have the finances to.

Yeah what @pro\-rabbit ; said, if you want to see any real difference try to save up for an amp that does over 1kw and than get two decent subs. You don't have to spend a fortune but it will defiantly be more worth it than upgrading from one low end amp to another low end amp.

The amps I listed as examples produce anywhere from 500 -900 watts at 2ohms. divide that power between your 4 ohm subs and you will be sending them any where from 250-450 w per sub...Headroom is a good thing and can be controlled, trying to kill an amp by forcing it to operate beyond it's limits is a bad thing and can ruin both the amp and the subs.

@ pro-rabbit how do i wire two 4 ohm subs together in parallel to make it 2 ohm and what would i be geting out of them with this amp and 2 12's kickers 4 ohms

Edit : i was looking at this video is this the way to wire two 4 ohm subs together in parallel to make it 2 ohm i dont have a monoblock amp would it still push 250 each like this

if this is the way to wire two 4 ohm subs together in parallel to make it 2 ohm do i still need to bridged the amp after ding this ?
