Hello everyone, I had a head unit, 4 speakers, 1 sub, and amp installed by a local
place in town. They selected every thing for me and I was trusting them to select the right components. I have a Chevy truck xtra cab with:
JVC KD-APD49 head unit
XTREME 4600X 4 channel 600W amp
8" Kicker sub
2 Kenwood 5x7 KFC-C6882IE Peak Power 240w
2 Kenwood 4x6 KFC-4675C Peak Power 60w
The amp is taking 2 channels with the other 4 spkrs on the other 2 channels. It sounds ok but not great. I play the drums and like a nice punch in my music and its not quite there. The gain on the sub channels are maxed crossover 3/4 the gain on the other 2 channels 3/4 crossover 1/2 way. Ive played with the crossover settings. Ive been told that I should have 1 amp for the sub and 1 4 channel amp for the other 4 spkrs. Should I get a mono sub amp and keep the 4 channel 600w amp for the 4 spkrs. Would that be to much power?
Also the RCA's seem really loose and tend to come apart enough so a spkr doesnt work.
I also get a very light hum that doesnt really change with the engine rpm.
Thanks for your help
