Gel battery under the hood??

Can you use a gel battery as the starting battery for your car without changing the alternator or buying an external regulator. if the regulator is a must, are they very hard to install? thanks

ya your fine. i have a yellow top gel battery in my s10 blazer with stock alt. well for now.

im pulling a lot of power so i need to upgrade to a high amp. alt. and plan on getting 2 audio batteries.

but your fine.

Naw just trow it in there bolt it down and done... Kinda a waste cuz under the hood you can get away with lead acid unseald batts which are much cheaper... Lemme explain the reason it's not a good idea to run lead acid INSIDE the vehicle is they give off toxic fumes (a very small amount) under the hood this is a non issue. So if yo are just upgrading a single batt that you run everything off of go ahead if you already have a bank of gel cells and are wondering if you can replace your starting batts with a gel I would not bother changing it to a gel until it goes out due to gel batts costing so damm much and high heat reduces their life However they do better in the cold soo if your up north and have an ich to spend 250-300$ On a batt go ahead if you are down here in texas with me might think twice about using gell under the hood.. I've never had a problem with yellow tops but some of the cheaper gell batts have failed on me at high temps

So yess throw a gel in their or better yet just add the gell cell to the electrical system super easy just wire it up in 12 v

At autozone you can order a 200amp dura last alt for your s10 $134.00 does it have the 4.3 in it?? I build alts and that's an easy one to get 240 amps out of without an external regulator

YT is an AGM batt, not GEL...
