I am going to try to become a SQ competitor. I have Koda 8's in my doors, DLS UR6 mids in kick panels and DLS UR1 tweeters in my sails.

I have a Phoenix Gold stereo 15-channel equalizer and crossover.

I have two 15" avalanches that I plan on sealing in 5 cubes on the rear deck.

I would like to get matching series amps of very good quality. I need anywhere from 1500 to 2500 RMS for the pair of subs, running at either 1 or 2 ohms (most likely 1 ohm). I need anywhere from 125RMS to 200RMS per channel for my fronts.

Basically for the subs I need one amplifier that does 1500-2500 RMS at one ohm OR two amplifers that each do 750-1250 RMS at one ohm.

I will also need either one amplifier that does 125-200RMS x 4 channels at 4 ohms, or two amplifiers that do 125-200RMS x 2 at 4 ohms.

Currently I am thinking about doing two Directed 1500d's for the subs, and two Directed 500/2's for the fronts.

The 500/2 page has a typo... at 4 ohms it does 125 RMS x 2, not 1.

I am open to any other amplifiers, however I would like to spend no more than $1,000 on these amplifiers.

Just my opinion but you dont realy need 2kw on two 15s for SQ, i think 1500wrms for the pair would do them good.

Of course, though, when I'm not competing i'll want a very good SQL system...

It just flat out doesn't make sense to me when someone says, "Oh, if you're looking for sq, you don't need that much power".

i have a diamond D3 400.4 that does

RMS @ 4 Ohm: 50 x 4

RMS Mono: 200 x 2 @ 4 Ohm

mint condition, if you're interested. looking for around 200 shipped

thats not near enough power, he will need about 100x2@4, and 150x2@2

brian, if i were you - id stick with the PPI amp, and get a nice pair of PCXXXX amps that do what you want

or if you onyl wanna go with 1600w (@4ohm, you have a pair of DVC4's right?) you could get this

If you want to seriously compete SQ, you're going to want to go Active, a SOLID digital active xover with adjustable slopes. You might want to look into the Kicker SX line amplifiers...at least for your front stage.

Isn't SQ about flat response? Wouldn't two 15s be a little much for a flat response SQ system?

I agree with noah on the active part. you may want to look into a largish amp for the subs. and then get a smaller 4 channel (50-75x4) for mids and hi's and then another larger one for the koda's (100x2). Just a suggestion. Of course, you're going to either need a kickass HU (i.e. eclipse 8 series) or an external crossover. Just using the EQ won't work. you need to make sure each component gets only certain frequencies.

Hence the need for Kicker SX amplifiers...have you guys actually taken a look at them? They pwn...

Fully digital active xovers built in, with digital display. Selectable xover points and small increments, and up 36 dB/octave slopes! WOWOWOWO, amazing amps...if my HU didn't take care of it...I'd have them.

i like the kicker idea...dont think avalanches would need over 1200 watts for the pair in 5 cft sealed unless you like hearing clack. the kicker 1250 does what 1500 anyway? im not sold on class d for sq yet though although im sure it could do fine
