gas>me

Well, its time for me to get rid of the bird. The gas prices and the amount im driving makes me spend atleast 300$ a month on gas. So I am looking at a 4cyl. Its gonna **** *** not feeling the v8 anymore. Here are some choices I've been looking at. Sucks have 11mpg and 20 hiway
Going to be quite a difference. One that I suspect that you will find less agreeable to that of paying more to drive a V8 powered car.

How you are getting only 11mpg/town and 20mpg/hwy is a little odd though...

With my most recent minor Trick Flow Upgrades to my Thunderbird, I actually get better efficiency. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I'm about 18mpg/town and 26mpg/hwy. (Not that far off from OEM Spec! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif )

I suspect that with a little tweaking, you could get your car's efficiency up a little more, and still have the V8.

It will still be a V8 though......

2005-06 Honda Civic LX (5SPD)

2005 Ford Focus ZX3 ST (5SPD)

03 Hyundai Tib (5SPD)

04 Acura TSX w/ 45k miles 20k shipped out the door.

05 Mitsubushi Eclipse (5 or 6SPD) not sure wot they come in.
I have a friend that just bought an 03 Tiburon with the 2.7L V6, and he is thrilled with it. He is used to driving a Mustang GT so this may speak to something of the abilities of the Tiburon. He now gets about 32mpg/hwy and the car easily can put you back in the seats. It's a pretty intense little car!

Otherwise, all of the other cars that you mention do have a good track record of reliability and ok performance.

If you can get passed the Focus' cheap and but ugly appearance, the price tag on the TSX and the Eclipse, then all is well.

I'd either look into making your bird more efficient, or trying the Tiburon or Civic.

Depending on how fond you are of your Thunderbird, you may also want to consider a slightly older model.

An 80's Aerobird Turbo Coupe.

2.3L Turbocharged 4cyl.

I've owned two, and can say that appearances are most certainly decieving with these cars.

They are extremely reliable, have a superb ride quality, average about 32mpg, and easily haul a*s!

Just something to think about..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Thats about it for now. I'm really looking at the focus because its a 20k car with a special employee discount I can get witch lowers it to 14k. Its charcoal grey with a sport package. Acually looked decent. I'm not planning to rice cake it, but maybe put some rims on it and a few minor engine parts. Thats it. The car is 28mpg city 34mpg hiway //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Is there any other cars I can look at that are nice and sporty for a decent package.

Scion's can kiss a fat ***. So don't reccomed them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

athankya.

There is quite an aftermarket following in parts and enthusiasts for these cars, plus, one can generally be purchased for well under $8k.

I won't even touch Scion. I can't think of a more worthless and but ugly product line. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Yea I'm going to look at a Tib also, the focus's price tag is hard to beat though.

Insurance is raping me for these new cars though. My parents are making me get my own policy. For the focus its around 1500 every six months. which is 250$. car payment is 173 a month.

For insurance on the Tib GT, i could only imagine..

I'm going to recommend a diesel vehicle. If you can find a light car with one, not necessarily the VWs. They are just more efficient, high torque engines, and they are dead sexy =).

On the arguement of the civic hybrid v regular civic your assuming that the gas price will be stuck $3.00 but if it goes $6.00 by 2008 than your assumption is worthless. I believe there is also a significant tax deduction (or credit) in place now for hybrids which may influence your decision based upon your tax bracket.

6.00$ a gallon. that would be pure ****.

I'm sure by 2008 there will be battery cars, or the hydrogen powered cars. Someone will come up with something.

Oh well. I always need exersize.

Just a follow up post, I got a insurance quote for 120$ a month. So i am going to the dealer tonite to drive it and see how i like it. Plus, i can now put 5500 down on the car so all in all 300$ a month for both insurance n car.

I will let ya guys know tonite. Thanks for all the input.

Is that 300 a month for the focus and insurance.

Those cars are so unsafe it's scary. They are built like a tuna can. When you crash they will need a d@mn good can opener to get you out...

yea for both,

i understand but in the beginning i owned a vw fox that was smaller than the focus. i spent 15$ a week. a freaking week for gas on that thing, i spend 65$ a week for the tbird. sometime i regret selling it, but it was downright fuggly. im just downgraing, getting a new car. also trying to save money.

plus, thousands drive focus's, its hard to beat this deal though..

Ya I saw a show, and bmw made a hydrogen powered car.. but it wasnt the "Hydrogen cell" it was an actual V8 and the thing was a beast, and ran fine. buut since there is only 1 made and it would probably run you a few mill.. let alone not being able to fill the tank.

My marquis is a 5L v8 I Feel your pain.

Ooh and BMW's plans are to make the first hydrogen car you can buy... it will have an engine that will go from hydrogen fuel to gasoline at the flick of a switch to keep your options open for filling up.. I dont see this working for the world for another 20 years though.

are you guys reatarded? why would you ever buy a car not built in america you people are the reason our country is going down the drain all these japanese companys who build their cars dirt cheap with no quality why not spend alittle more and go for a car you know is built american strong i just think its bs because everyone complains about no jobs
