I am guessing here, but "iwantmorebass" I take it u are 13 and have legasy pyramid and jensen in ur car?? Don't try to teach people by using "whatdo u think a warentee is for" when you don't know shit. Warentee's are there for a safety net, not just so we can go **** up anything we want (although blowing up sony xplod subs i salot of fun)

hehehe thats what service plans are for hehehe jkjk i just installed my shivas and it just doesnt cut it when the gains are in the minimum so i have to turn it up a bit.... btw when you adjust the gains, do you have your bass on the headunit al the way up? midway? or zero? i put mine midway and compensated for it in the bass boost... not a lot but just a tad...

Originally posted by adamS do not listen to these people. first of all, the 4v pre-outs on your hu are only the max they will not put out that continusly. second, the correct way to set your gains is to turn the volume on your hu 2/3 up, and then slowly turn the gains up on your amp, until you hear distortion, then back the gain off a little. another way is to get a meter so you can tell when the signal starts to clip, but that is more expensive.
1. Newer alpine units do not clip at any volume level, this was an intentional design. Forget the 2/3 level.

2. Do not use the distortion idea if you are using an amplifier/installation capable of mechanically destroying the driver you have it connected to.

3. You are assuming everyone can immediately hear distortion, a lot of people, espeically when testing via subwoofers, cannot depict it very readily.

4. 2/3 for a fair variety of head units, is a good figure.

5. Do not use this testing method if you are using a system that can damage your hearing. Your ears will become detuned from the immediate burst of sound, and your ability to depict nuances in the test tone will be lessened greatly.

If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, find a shop you trust.

1 more thing to contribute, its kinda hard to tune it right with short burts of bass and with all the other sounds comin out of the other speakers, its pretty **** hard to notice smal things as clipping

J [/quotefirst off all phuck all you farmers. Corsica you must be 6 because you don't know how to spell. but it is fun blowing subs.

I was born hearing impaired so i have my gains up at 3/4 and i also have my crossover at 3/4

the key is to tune it just right so that everthing is crisp and clean, and I should mention that many home audio systems are high wattage because , the freq cut offs are tuned just right. that give sound more definition rathet than having muddy sound.

however I am sure that if I had some nicer speakers it would be louder , there fore I would be able to turn the gains down and the freq tuned differently to achieve even better performance? If I sound wrong or out of place just correct me , this is just my prefference on tuning a system.

This not a defense for stupid boy need poohnanny either, i think he need to experience a real system next to his junker. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::;
