gains????

do not listen to these people. first of all, the 4v pre-outs on your hu are only the max they will not put out that continusly. second, the correct way to set your gains is to turn the volume on your hu 2/3 up, and then slowly turn the gains up on your amp, until you hear distortion, then back the gain off a little. another way is to get a meter so you can tell when the signal starts to clip, but that is more expensive.

My Man Adam is correct, most companied publish max preout voltage, on way to get the max voltage out of you HU is to get and Audio control MVC (master volume control) you set the HEad unit as high as possible and the MVC controls the voltage and then you adjust the volume by a knob

well adams i beg to differ on one point. 2/3 is a good way but u should turn the volume up to where ur normally going to listen to it, and then turn the gains forward/back till distortion isn't heard.

Also this should be done on more than one song, beacuse u may have a song that ur trying to dot his with that will distort ur sub really easily/not at all.

Well if he dose it that way than he's gonna be there along time. Due to that the gain setting for one song sound good and the other might sounds like crap. Two songs never sound the same.

true. But what I am hinting at is to take like 4 tracks and listen. For example what i have used is a sine sweep, bass 305 feel the music, eminem "hallies song", DMX "grandma", and linkin park "in the end" and found a nice mix of no distortion a little past 3/4 and i never hear it now with any of my bass (granted i bet if i looked @ every song i listen to i could find some).

You do have a good point there. I always fixed the problem with an EQ. And setting the gain down and use the EQ sub level to make up for it.

I do mine with the bass @ +4 and tweet @ +4 cause the +4 out of 6 adds extra bass and doesn't make me sub distort. I am going to have an all new experience with gains here sooin though man. Its gonna be sick. I am going to gte 2 new 12" and a new amp to do allt hsi work on.....This is gonna be fun-o-fun-o-fun!!!!
