gain settings...

erm, when a 2channel amp is bridged, do I have to match the right and left gains? it seems like on my sub, the right gain gives me volume, the left one doesn't do much... and the left is a positive, the right is the negative...

only one of the sub is distorting, and is fixed by a touch of the cone, and everything is back to normal... what the hell is going on?

when 2 channels r bridged, i believe u only have one gain.

my amp right now is a 2 channel, n it's bridged. n there's only 1 gain setting. but if there were 2, which i kinda doubt, yeah they would prob have to be the same.

With a bridged amp, set all gains the same. Each amp is slightly different in how they utilize the gain settings when bridged. Usually there is a master gain control, but from the amps that I have played with, the owners manuals have said to set gain controls even.

Second part: with your system off, are one of the dust-covers on the sub loose. If they are exposed to lots of heat and/or sunlight, the glue that holds them down can degrade. The dustcap will vibrate and sound bad. Check that first. Second would be seperation of the voice coil from the cone of the sub...but this is rarely something that you can visually inspect. If possible, inspect the junction of the spider and the voice coil and see if there is any damage. Just a thought, I have only seen a few voice coils come loose on a sub.

good luck...
