alright so ive set the my gains with the DMM, speaker amplifier was pretty good

but, with the sub amplifier, reading 40v(800rms@2ohm)

its below half the gain...

if I put it @ half it doesnt clip...around 50v

so does that mean my amp does more than what it says? or it has nothin' to do with this?

P.S, does power wire size affect gain setting? im running 8gauge now but switching to 4gauge

wut yall think?

thx

What do you mean by "it doesn't clip" ?

Do you mean you cannot hear clipping? If so, when playing what ? 0dB test tones at your chosen max volume setting? It can be harder to hear distortion in subs compared to higher ranged speakers.

Power wire size should not affect gain settings. It can affect the max power that the amp can produce, though. If your power wire is too small the amp won't produce it's full potential.

It depends on the length of the run but you should benefit from the upgrade to 4 ga.
