gain set question

I know how to set the amp but when you use the voltage calculator to set the gains do you use the rms of the amp or the real rms??

for example my memphis mcd-1500 puts out more then 1500 at 2 ohm so do I use 1600-1700 rms or 1500 to set the amp?

Example 1500 watts rms =54.77

1600 watts rms = 56.57

1800 watts rms = 60

so what do I use?

How much RMS at that particular load can your subwoofers handle?

When I set the Class D section on my 25 to Life Power 1000, I set it to give me 36 volts that roughly translates to 650 watts RMS @ 2 ohms. My subwoofer can handle 750 watts RMS, and my sub channel benched @ 697 watts RMS, so I decided to play it safe and go between the rated RMS of 600 and the birth sheet RMS of 697.

it would be to what the amp can do. so what the card said when you got the amp. however the point of doing this is to make sure you dont clip. so going with the 1500rms would be safer. i would probably go in the middle of the 2, so that 1600rms.
