gain question: test tone level

ok, i run all my music through my ipod to my head units aux input, all my music is leveled using mp3gain to 89db. my question is what db level test tone should i use to set my gains? i would put the test tone on my ipod and set the gains like that

actually 89db on mp3gain lowers the volume on nearly all recent music. of course 0dB will still be the safest, but that and mp3gain are kind of like doing the same thing (clip protection) twice!

but i don't really know what the music will be peaking at //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i'd guess that -3dB tones will still give you no clipping when you play music, but i'm not sure about -6dB or more.

when i get my sub ill try with some -3db test tones... thanks for the help
