Gain knob on sa 150.4

so obviously i use this thing for my front stage and im wondering how the gain knob works on a 4 channel amp?

Would it just turn your volume up or down after setting your gains on the amp? I know that gains arent a volume knob, it also has a clipping indicator on it as well. Pretty much what im trying to get at is..can i use the gain knobs clipping indicator to find the clipping point of my mids and highs?

does that make sense?
