Fusing mulitple batteries in parallel

Hi guys

Just wanna verify this.

I have an optima under the hood and plan to put a Kinetik in the hatch.

( I know you shouldnt mix batteries, but the optima D34 will only fit under my hood.)

Im using a single 0/1 guage run of wire and it is fused at the battery.

I also have the 0/1 wire fused right before the wire enters my mono amp coz my amp must be fused externally as there are no internal fuses in it.

So when I put the Kinetik in the middle between the battery and amp, must i put a THIRD fuse before the positive post as well ???

the instruction guide that came with my Kinetik says you do

Just wondering

yes. ~18" from each battery, between the batteries.

it should be front battery --> 18" wire --> fuse (300-350A) --> wire --> fuse (300-350a) --> 18" wire --> rear battery

I can't believe you missed that JCO, you are slippin mang!

It is 1/0 wire, not 0/1 wire bro!

18" is such a stupid *** rule.
Get it as close to the battery as you find reasonable. If you can easily get that fuse 4" from the battery post, awesome.
Yep the closer the better. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

where did i say 0/1?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
No silly, he said 0/1 and you are usually all over stuff like that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

It's not really necessary to fuse between every single battery, imo.
It just depends on how far apart those batteries are. If they are further than right next to each other, then you need a fuse to be safe.

But if you are the type that does not mind a car fire here and there, by all means, take the risk. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I have (2) batteries in the back and they are paralleled and they are not fused, but there is a fuse in front of the first batt.
my batteries are both in the trunk (my front batt died //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif) and they are next to each other paralleled. no fuses between them.

I have extra batteries in the back, with 2 1/0 runs goin to them, but I didn't fuse before my back batteries.

But I did up front. I have been running the setup for a year, and no problems at all. I mean why would I need to fuse before the back battery too? Just another security? Or does everyone do this? Think mine is ok?
