Fusing a non-car audio car audio system

A friend of mine plans to set up a car audio system outside his car for an art/sound installation project (don't ask). And i've been asked to help him set it up. Got a quick question on fusing

the system will be running off a car battery and will feature the following amps.

Sounstream 360.2 (2x90W with 1x40A fuse) running dynaudio GTs

Lanzar Opti500.2 (2x500W@4ohm with 4x40A fuses) running 2 x RF Punch HE2 15s in stereo @4Ohms.

Here's the question:

For the in-line fuse near the battery, i know from searching posts that 125A fuse is ideal (using 4AWG wire from battery to distribution block). I currently have a 60A fuse from a previous project. What are the consequences of using the 60A fuse (cos he's in a hurry to fire it up)?

The distribution block will run an 8AWG run to each amp (less than 10ft). Both are fused there with a 30A fuse. Again, what are the consequences.

Basically i think it should be ok because i really doubt he's going to draw more than 30% of the power from the Lanzar sub amp since he's running them with a single set of comps powered by the 2x90w. Turn the amp up any more and the bass will drown out the comps.

so guys, whadyathink?

Thanks a bunch

see to telll u the truth, that fuse willl be fine. But i how long is the wire, and how many amps is the battery. That is what matters cus those amps can kill that battery if they are big enough. Oh and why is his wire so long.

actually the run is a lot shorter. 10ft is the max he plans to go depending on the asthetics of the whole thing (it's an art installation after all). but as it is now, from battery to distribution block is about 3ft, from block to amp maybe 2ft. as for the battery, i'm not too sure how many amps it is. it's ur regular run-of-the-mill battery that powers most cars.

it might blow. and you might have to buy a bigger one.

big deal. try it, if it works, dont worry about it. the fuse will break before any damage occurs. thats the whole point of having a fuse in the first place =)

have fun.
