i posted this in gneneral but no one helped me

just wondering for a 1000 watt amp and 4 gauge

my fuse came wit 60a fuse

i poped it instantly (got to check out y still)

but now that i got to buy a new fuse wondering if i should stick wit 60 a

or move to a 70 or 80 fuse, would that be safe n recomended ??

make sure that the power wire isn't shorting out (like a cut or something touching bare wire) then if it's not go with 100a fuse if i took no time at all for the fuse to blow then 70 or 80 won't help

can you have a fuse that's "too big"? I know that 150A is like the "limit" of most 4awg but is it okay to run 150A on any 4awg run? Or do you have to find how many amps you are pulling then get a fuse accordingly? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Your under hood fuse is there to protect the wire and the car, not the amp. You fuse it according to the current capacity of the wire. Going smaller than you need isn't doing you any good because your amp is probably going to pull more current than 60 or 70A. A 120A would probably suit your needs just right.
