fuse size help

I have 2 amps, both with 4g wire going to them. There combined strength is about 1000watts. What kind of fuse should i get? and do i have to get them their own fuse folders? Even if they have fuses on the amp it self.

What i meant to say is, does each amp need its own fuse, along with the fuse that connects to the battery? And how would i determine the right size for the fuses?

There's a search button for a reason, but what's the point of a forum if not to repeat information?

Fuses are designed to break a circuit if the wire is accidentally grounded. (If the wire gets grounded, the current will over-power the wire and catch on fire.) Now, it's common practice to fuse a wire as soon as you lower wire gauge. Because a current that could produce a fire hazard in one wire could be perfectly acceptable in another. It's just in safer practices. It isn't completely needed (no fuse is NECESSARY.) But it poses a safety risk if not fused.

And you fuse as per wire. I have since forgotten the fuse sizings... but here's a link
