okay guys i have a question for all you smart ppl out there! here is the scenario

we are in my buddies car, and he is running 2 rf p2 subs, 250rmn each duel 4 subs. he is using an sony mono-block amp to push both of them. he is using 8gauge wire and a 40amp inline fuse in the 8gauge wire.

so we put in a bigger amp fuse and to my astonasiment the subs didnt' hit hard at all. they hit at half the power and all i did was put a bigger fuse in.

so i went back and put the 40amp fuse in. anyone have an idea why it sounds better and much louder with a 40amp fuse??

thanks

Ken

b/c no one is talking in either thread to me so it can't hurt and one is a general discussion and the orhter is a wiring and electrical so it matches in both sections!

all I can think is that the higher amp fuse has a higher resistance for some reason. Did you actually measure it or are you just guessing about lacking SPL ?

Lol...then people would hate having to run those dam 300 amp fuses on their 0 gauge wire...you should have nearly zero resistance on any fuse, unless you're running more current than it can handle.

OP, be patient, my god...and there isn't really any way that it would actually get quieter just because of using a bigger fuse, so something else is a problem, or its not actually any quieter.

Without even looking at your profile I can tell you're a teenanger (20-21 at most). I have seen much stranger things, and I did not say that all larger fuses have less resistance - I said maybe the larger of HIS TWO FUSES may have a higher resistance, possibly even defective or slightly damaged. And as I said, it was just a guess - given the little bit of info he gave.

I don't see anyway a fuse can have any resistance. It should have none, or infinate (blown). But maybe something here is beyond me, and you should buy a new fuse of the same (higher resistance).

Why are you trying to increase the fuse size anyways? Did the smaller one blow?
