fuse question

when selecting what size fuse to use, would u go by the size of wire being ran (2guage) combined with ur amps max and rms? (1200 peak and 500Rms)..or is it soly based on what size wire you'r using?

i would fuse 2 guage at 200 amps, they say 225 but you wont find a 225 amp fuse, and 250 is giving it to much leway
