fuse question

i have a 4awg amp kit with a agu40 fuse. and the fuse blew. it blew a month or so after i upgraded my amp. my amp has 2 80 amp fuses it it. i was told that you have to match the amount of amps in the fuse holders to the amount of amps in the fuses in your amp. is that true? i also read that the fuse amps in the fuse holder depends on the size wire.

my amp kit was tsunami. i also have an absolute amp kit rated for a 2000 watt amp. can i upgrade my tsunami amp kit by just replacing it with the new fuseholder. it is a larger fuse.

Actually you fuse the power wire depending on the size of the wire.

okay so can i use a 80 amp agu fuse for a 4 awg wire. and well all agu fuses fit in the same fuse holder

you should probably upgrade the wire. too much current being pulled through it, which blew the fuse to protect teh wire..

the amp won't fit any bigger wire

it is a 1600 watt hifonic

also i don't feel like re wiring everything right now.

and i have a week eletrical system right now. i need to do that and the wire at the same time

i just need a quick fix right now

You can use an 100A fuse.

You are correct. They make 100amp fuses for AGU however its BS because most of the fuse holders for AGU can't handle 100 amps themselves.

4 guage for an amp that only draws 80 amps should be fine. Just get an 80 amp fuse.

im not runnning the full 1600rms. maybe running 450watts. but i put in a 80amp fuse and it is fine for now. but i have a new problem. i put new wires in for the front speakers. my speakers are running off the the HU. i am running iforce 6.5's with 14awg cable to my kenwood deck. the deck is 50 rms x 2 i think. and everything was good and fun but after 10 minutes of driving, the speakers stopped and the just the bass was running then the deck read protect and i got no sound. why is it in protect?

Maybe a wire fell off the speakers or is in some other way shorting.

And your HU only puts out ~22w RMS.
