Fuse keeps breaking

I currently have a Kenwood amp that is pretty old, about 6 or 7 years old. I have never had any problems with it. Been with me in now my 3rd car and has been so for about a year. However just yesterday both 20amp fuses at the amp blew. I checked the 40amp fuse at the battery and it looked fine (maybe a bit thin, but still in tact). I replaced both 20's this morning, got the subs back working for about an hour or so with multiple start ups and then they blew again. What should I be checking?

A had recently pulled up my back seat cushions to try and get into my trunk (my auto trunk pop also is not working for some reason right now???) and then pushed the cushion back down. Could I have moved a ground loose or something?

Thanks for the help.

What model number are the Kenwoods?

21,22, and 23 series i have owned are good for that. I had a few back in the day that would power up in protect and pop a fuse. Had to have them all serviced, I think it is abuild flaw cheap parts.

So, I checked the wires and they seem to be all intact, ground is good, no wires have rubbed or exposed. I again on my way home from work replaced the fuses and the subs and amp worked as normal. Got up this morning for work, listened to them for about 10 minutes then they cut out again and both fuses are again blown.

This is the second time this has happened where they will work for an hour or so, i will turn the car off and leave it sit for hours, get back in, start it up and 10 minutes later the fuses are cooked. Could my AMP just have gone bad? Or should I replace the wires first?

I think so b/c my battery is not drained when I come back to it...

I can try that. But during that magical hour when they do work, I can bump them as hard as they have been in the past with no problem.

So they seem to blow soon after start-up of the car once it has been sitting for awhile. Any ideas on this? The main fuse at the battery is not blown, so I am not sure why the 2 at the amp keep going.

Could it just be the amp is 7 years old and is going nuts on its own?

Make sure the power wire isn't touching anything, and make sure your ground is grounded properly. I don't know what else it could be.

Just check all your wiring.

Yeah they look good from what I can tell...Is it possible that the fuses are blowing b/c of the AMP malfunctioning internally?
i'd just go get an amp kit and rewire everything. it won't hurt and if you find out it is the amp you'd have fresh wires to go towards a new one.
