Fuse keeps blowing in weird way

The fuse (under my hood) from postive side of battery to my amp keeps dying without melting, it just sort of stops working, it looks completely fine until you check it with a multi-meter. This has happened twice, on two different cars, with 2 different brands of fuses.

Im running an eD nine.2 (400 watts) with an atlas 15, using a knukonceptz amp kit.

Im thinking maybe its the design of the fuse holder? Im out of ideas. anyone?

that happend to me with my inline fuses.... never figured out why it happend i just skipped the fuse (fuse was in the distro, not under the hood) so i just put some wire in its place since it didnt need to be there... but yah.... i think that it might be you have to small of a fuse for the amperage u are pulling... that is the only thing that i can think of... cuz the fuses in the distro were both the same and the one for my sub amp kept dying but my component amp never did.. so im betting that its an amperage issue.... get a nice BIG fuse and maybe that would fix the prob

If you are going to put in too big a fuse, why bother with a fuse at all. Let your car burn down...

If you put in too big of a fuse, the wire will not be protected.And that is the point for that fuse right there.

Well, it'd protect the wire in the even of a short.

I'd bet if you shorted out 4awg wire that had a 250amp fuse on it, the fuse would blow before the insulation gets mushy.

Maybe, but if you had a steady draw in excess of 150A you could melt the wire, and start a fire without the fuse ever blowing. A small abrasion on the jacket could allow a small short that could easily do something of that nature.

A fast blow 250A fuse requires 375A to "fast blow." I should be able to flow 250A indefinitely. 4 ga wire can't claim that.
