I just installed a pioneer head unit....hooked it up and it worked fine....just recently had my cousin install an amp (kicker 350.4 to the front and rear speakers)....figured he would be good at it since he did his own system...anyway.... hooked everything up and i think he crossed one of the speaker wires up...and when he went to try it out fuse blew and a good bit of smoke came out of the cd player...... then i rewired it back the way i had it before when it did work...everytime i go to put a fuse in it keeps blowing...so im thinking maybe i need another new cd player now... i tested out the 12 volt memory battery wire(YELLOW), the acc wire(RED)...and the ground wire with a multimeter....did have a problem with the ground wire..seems it was a little loose at the harness connection..anyway...fixed that an tried it again and it blew the fuse again..so does anyone have any suggestions? Do i need to get a new cd player now or what? Any advice is welcomed...Thanks

- I would suggest that you recheck all the wiring from battery to amp, from battery to Cd player, and from cd player to amp.

- Their might a bare wire somewhere in the install touching the chasis, and causing the short circuit. The only wire that i can think of would be the power wires to the HU or the Remote turn on wire to the HU.

- I doubt the fact that if he wired the speaker backward it would have any effect on the HU, rather when the speaker should push outward what will happen is that it will **** inward and thus it the bass will not sound as hard. For this find a good song that has clear single beats and watch the speakers to see what happens.

Thats my 2 cents

I no longer have anything to deal with the amp hooked up.... just the head unit now...as soon as i plug the wiring harness back into the cd player the fuse will blow like 2 seconds later.... i've already tested the power wires and the ground wire for short circuit with volt meter..and all of those are ok...so im thinking its got to be either the remote wire...or i need a new cd player ...not sure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif .. going to try hooking up cd player to another car tomorrow to see if it even still works or not

Heres what you do.

Hop in your car and get on the freeway (grab a camera)

Floor it and get up to like 90mph

Roll down the window

Now toss that busted POS as hard as you can.

Take pictures of ensuing carnage.

OR

Take er in for warranty, she sounds busted.
