Fuse completely melted?

its the fuse block man. seen this happen personally too many times. fuse blocks are made wayy to cheaply.
if you can figure out a way to to use ring terminals on the fuse block rather than shove wire in that hole and screw it down. solder the terminal to the wire for the best connection.
I had this guy call me to install a new amp thinking his was bad. It was the block it wasnt passing power. It could work the other way too as a short instead of an open. This shit wasnt a problem when we didnt get everything from china.

fuse by front battery should be fused at the max current draw on the wire awg, u then fuse the amp with appropriate fuse for it at the amp. So like a 300 amp inder the hood and a 120-140 amp inline to amp.
If you have 1 amp that is on a power wire that has a 140a built-in fuse, then you would use a 150a fuse for your power wire.

There is no benefit in oversizing your fuse. The max current draw of the wire only indicates the 'max' fuse size, but going smaller is always better.

Fuses can go much higher than rated before they blow. Technically, a 300a fuse could pass 600a for minutes before blowing. And even 300a for a 1/0 wire is pushing it no matter what the wire companies say.

Either way you look at it you agree that you should fuse both sides of th wire tho right, that was my main point.

arching causes heat.
arching can cause a fire.

replace wire, and fuse holder. make sure all connections are solid and tight.
^ That would be my guess. If its an ANL fuse that is held by bolts/nuts, then it needs to be checked that its tight every few months. If the fuse came loose, then it would cause the arcing that fbi mentioned.

The amp is already fused. Are you talking about adding an additional external fuse to the amp?
