I agree with you to a certain extent. They had many people that couldn't just up and leave. I was one of them, I didn't have the money at the time to leave if I did I'm pretty sure I would have. Not only that I helped out the community more than you could imagine. Yes i did loot and steal things but I didn't take anything we didn't need. I was actually going around passing out food and drinks to people who needed it. I was stealing ice from the redcross to bring to people with diabeties to keep their insulin or what ever that shiit is cold. I did more for other people than I did for myself. So don't tell me I was a drag and that I should have left. Most people that stayed in my area didn't want to stay but didn't really have a choice, not every one has the money to just start a new life some where else. Not only that gas was impossible to find. The only stations that did have gas was reserved for emergency vehicles. I'm not trying to put you down or insult you I'm just saying that maybe if you had more information on the situation you wouldn't think the same way.
I'm glad You kind of understand, I don't mean to offend You here. I AM glad for all that made it out with their lives.
IMO, For the record, food & water is not looting. Beer & fur coats is.
Now, I have been doing nothing but reading and chatting with EMS workers in Your area, well, former area & home. Two of my fiance's three uncles are officers in the Nat Guard and are down there. There are also four ems or firefighter friends of mine down there... Sir, I do have a bit of information.
I've been arguing these points for the last two weeks nearly non-stop. I'm not so arrogant as to think that I know nearly 50% of the street-level happenings, but I'm not some 16 year old kid from Bum**** Idaho that does nothing but believe the tripe shit that foxnews spits out.
Not offending me, and I do hope that I havent offended You.
My entire opinion of this tragedy is that the system failed, for many reasons & at many levels. Including (but not exclusive to) the personal civilian level. It's not all Bush's fault, nor is it all the fault of the residents. Many things SHOULD've happened at many levels, and didnt. In the end, it was still handled horribly, and
planned for horribly.
That is all.
Flame away, and have fun with it, cause in the end.... this is still the internet, and those are still my opinions.
