Reason I say EA3532 or the XA5000 is that what ever one sells first Ill use the other. I will only sell one of these amps so take your pick. I currently use the XA5000 for daily, but can have it out in a day.

I just bought the EA3532 and have some things I want to finish with my install before winter gets here so its up.

1. Product:

Eclipse XA5000

2. Specs:

Eclipse XA5000

Manual can be downloaded here:

XA5000 Manual

3. Description/Condition:

Has some very light surface rubs that can only be seen in the right light. To the ***** eye is perfect.

Internals have never been repaired as far as I can tell.

A very nice under rated amp. The XA2000 is rated for 300@4 bridged, but benched doing 380@4 with clean power.

Heres a nice little review for a comparison:

XA2000 Review

4. Price:

$240 shipped/OBO.

Im looking for 18sqft of MLV, 18sqft of CCF, and 20' of Extruded Butyl Rope (EBR)

Anything else just offer. I need to move this fast.

5. Pictures:

In the pictures the scuffs look worse than they are. Flash tends to do that.

3. Description/Condition:

I described this as old school not because of age, but because of age in comparison to Eclipse's amp lineup. This was among some of the first Eclipse amps ever made.

A few small knicks here and there and a few surface scratches. This thing is in great condition for its age. Id give it a solid 9/10 physical and 10/10 mechanical.

From what I can tell its never been repaired. The warranty label was still intact when I got the amp. I broke it to make sure the insides were in one piece after I received it from USPS prior to testing.

This amp was made circa 2003 according to the manual print date.

All I can say is that this thing is very very under rated and pure SQ.

4. Price:

$140 shipped/OBO or entertaining trades or trades + cash on your end. I have no cash to add on top.

I also have amp gut pictures. I also have taken close ups of the minor defects in the heat sink.

Is there a measurable spec on the sound quality? THD or something? I like the age, I'm running stuff from the same kinda era.
Which one? I posted a review for an XA2000 which is a smaller amp from the same series as the XA5000. Its a class D, but in the review its stated that its just as clean as your class A/B. I would chalk it up to the ICEPower technology by Bang and Olufsen.

As for the EA3532 THD at 2ohm stereo is .008%, THD at 4 ohm stereo is .004%, and THD at 4 ohms bridged is rated at .008%. S/N ratio is 105%. Higher the percentage the less noise it will introduce into the system. 105% is pretty high. The highest I saw prior to this was right around 100% from a HU or external EQ.

I meant is there a spec that is best used? I have a couple of amps that *say* 102% S/N but I'm not 100% sure on their accuracy. Couple of older Planet Audio amps.

I'm confused though, why is the other amp more expensive? It has lower S/N and higher THD

The XA5000 is a class D, The EA3532 is a class A/B. As far as prices go thats their market value. I believe the XA5000 was somewhere around MSRP somewhere around $6-$700 BNIB. The EA3532 was MSRP around $300 or so.

well the 3532 sounds about 10x as good for SQ just will take a bit more power to run. Gonna see if I can find a way to work something like that into my system, hold on

It'd be right around enough power for my front speakers, if you had a pair of the 3532s I'd get an amazing active setup in front //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Except the amp is extremely under rated. I compared the sub channel at 2 ohms to my XA5000 which does 420@2 and also under rated. The EA3532 kept right up and is only rated for 120@2 on the sub channel.

Except I'm currently running at 150x2 @ 4 ohms. To go active I'd want about 150 watts to each channel still, and I'm pretty sure the amp isn't underrated to the point it'll put out 150x4 @ 4 ohms, but a pair would let me run each of them bridged to 120x2 @ 4 ohms which would be plenty enough when accounting for underrating. Or I could use an amp like the EA3532 on the driver's side for active, and use my old one for the passenger's side on active. That could actually work.
