Front Stage: Whats yours and why did you buy it?

I have boston z6's. I bought them because my JBL GTI's were not performing to my liking. The z'6 are amazing and sound absolutely awesome. They are loud, have good midbass, and sound great. I guess it helps that I got them for $200 when they retail for 3-4 times that.

First, I think you need to tell us if you are going active or staying passive.
If passive, search for some drivers in your range, but many will say to go with the 720prs set.

If active, you will need the processing (not sure if you have that), but you can put together a nice little 2-way (front) active set-up with $250 for drivers.

I have my front stage (see sig) because it was cheap!

Tweets -$40 (value guess)

Mids - $80

Sub - $60

Total = $180 for all drivers

I'm going to stay with Passive.

I'm going to stay with Passive.
In that case do some searching around some sites. I would look into the sets that fall into your price range from companies such as Rainbow, Hertz, Boston, Alpine, Polk, Pioneer, etc. Definitely get enough power to keep them happy.

I have the Pioneer Premier 720c's, which are fantastic for the price.

And some el cheap 6x8" Pioneer Premiers in the back for when the kids are back there.

Reason I bought it................because I wanted music in my car, duh! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Hands down the HSKs will outperform most speakers in the 250.00 range assuming all have the same type of install, straight out of the box, going passive.

I have:

Peerless SLS 6 1/2's Midbass (I hope to upgrade to the 8's soon) off a Sundown 100.2

Hybrid Audio L4's Midrange (off a PPI PC4100)

Hybrid Audio L1's Tweeters (off the same PPI)

All running active from a Pioneer 800PRS.

how are you running a 3 way active front stage off the 800PRS?

Hertz HSK 165, I got them really cheap brand new on here for 230, and I wanted some 6.5's for my front door and I am very happy I did that. They are being pushed by a Sundown 100.4.

This was an upgrade from MB Quart RSC 213 I believe they were.

I'm running my low outs from the HU to another 3way xover and going mid outs to the mid amp and sub outs to the sub amp.
damn, perhaps i should try that.

I think i may change my titanium dome tweets for silk ones, damn things can get harsh //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

thats a freakin steal!!!
to the OP- the hsk's will run about 30 or so over your budget. but Daaaaaamn worth it with a capital D
I have some in the for sale section for 250 shipped so thats right @ his budget //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif. Yeah it works out pretty good, the only downside is that I lose individual control of time alignment over the mids. I have to do time alignment evenly to both sides and it controls the mids and sub at the same time but it does bring the midbass and sub bass to the frontstage more.
