Front stage questions

I have a pair if PG RSD components but the tweeters are blown. I have been thinking about buying some 6.5" Pioneer Rev coax speakers. And using the RSD mids as midbass duty. If I were to do this I would have the front stage HPF at 80hz. Where would you recomend I set the RSD mids LPF? I was thinking 250-300.

I am also going to a junkyard to get 2 door pannels for my car. I am gonna take a stab at fiberglassing them. After I do that I was going to use chicken wire and more fiberglass on the back of the pannels to make enclosures for the drivers. When it comes to enclosures for these kinds of drivers. How big an issue is the volume of the enclosure. I wouldent be able to be very accurate with the size. Could I make it small and then just use polyfill?

hmm, kinda confusing but I would recommend getting a set of tweeters instead of coaxials. To me it would sorta be a step down by going from a component set to a pair of coaxials, specially if you have the ability to filter them and possible go to an active setup.

Are you saying that the coaxials would be high passed to 80hz and then the RSD mids would be playing 80-300 or so? I don't think there is a need to have 2 different drivers playing in the same frequency range. Or I could be misunderstanding what you are saying. Maybe running the RSD's from 80-300 or so and then the Coaxials 300 and up.

What does the rest of your system consist of? HU? Amp? Just curious to where your filtering will be done and what options you have for filtering and such.

Hopefully someone else will add in their advice on picking a tweeter to match with your RSD mids and help you out with building up your doors.

if you go with the revos if your ear is anything like mine you will find the tweeter will give you a good amount of listening fetigue I would also go with a new set of tweeters over those co-axles. Not to mention for the price if you do anything to save a buck just put the revos in they have a good amount of midbass as it is.

thats why i ask. the tweets blew. there was i think 4 or 5 other pepole that had problems with the pg comps from audiosavings.
Wow. I didn't get mine from there, but I guess I should splurge on the $8 insurance. LOL.

Noone touched his other question, which I am curious about. If a guy is to glass a pod for the speakers, what size should the pod be? Would the driver run better free air in the door, than it would in a pod?

I have to glass the mounting for the driver anyways, so rather than leave it free air and deaden the doors, I would rather glass a complete pod and have it be done.

Most car audio mids are designed to run IB and placing them in small sealed pods/enclosures will greatly diminish their low-end output capabilities.
That's what I needed to know. I guess I'll have to do things the hard way.

What do guys do when they build kick pannels?
