front speakers not working right

Hello - I have a set of components in the front doors. Sometimes when the speakers are playing they stop working, then they come back on. At low volumes, they don't play (only the midbass driver, the tweeter still plays), but when I turn the volume up, they start to play. Any ideas what the problem is? Are they blown? Please help. All I can say is check, and recheck all your connections on the speakers and the amp. If they're good then you may have a problem with your passive crossover that came with your components.

P.S. Also check the connections on the passive crossover.
