Hey everyone,

Been a long time since I posted on here but my friend just came to me and needs some advice. This kid went to his local audio shop where he met a fellow Vdubber and he trusted his advice and his sales. The guy sold him a UL12D Ultralinear subwoofer and a Coustic power logic US-CS100. The specs are below:

Ultralinear UL12D Subwoofer

12" Dual voice coil subwoofer

100 Oz. Strontium magnet assembly

RMS power handling: 350 watts

Peak power handlig: 700 watts

frequency response: 30Hz- 2500Hz

Voice Coil: Dual 2" 4-layer ASV

Impedance: 4 Ohm

and

Coustic Power Logic US-C100

CEA2006 certified power output :50 watts RMS x 2-channels at 4Ohm

CEA2006 certified power output :80 watts RMS x 2-channels at 2 Ohm

CEA2006 certified power output :160 watts RMS x1 bridged at 4 Ohm

Crossover: -high pass 12dB variable 40Hz-800Hz or 400Hz-8kHz

-Band pass 12dB/24dB variable 40Hz-8kHz

-Low pass 24dB variable 40Hz-800Hz or 400Hz-8kHz

He wants to know if anyone has any input on either of these components. And I am pretty sure that the amp cannot power the sub in any way except for 50w x 2 @ 4ohms. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks for your help/input.

tell you friend to get online and start doing some reading, i would say there are many many budget options that are loud and or sound great they just need to discovered by the less informed

With that setup he can only do 2ohm or 8ohm

meaning parallel he would do 80wrms

series... 25wrms?

I would take the amp back and get a budget class D amp or take it all back and get an entry level subwoofer.
