um no, he had everything maxed out amp head unit. the headunit output is only suppose to match the gain of the amp, you set the output to match the amp gain at its maximum setting and thats the highest you should go without clipping and then the sub out gain is usefull if you want to turn down but never over the highes matching setting. Is it an Alpine HU? Because if it is then it is okay to have the HU SUBWOOFER setting on +15. That is the way that those HU are built.
If it is an Alpine HU you are fine leaving that setting where it is and people need to shut up about the HU setting being there. Serious face-palm to the people that keep saying that.

My gain on the amp was only at half way. Your talking about subwoofer output on my sub?is 70 bucks worth being dissatisfied and clipping your sub by maxing out the gains and then blowing your sub in the long run. imr eally trying to save you money in the long run and to be happy with a matching amp still under 200 bucks.
Mines a Kenwood. Is it an Alpine HU? Because if it is then it is okay to have the HU SUBWOOFER setting on +15. That is the way that those HU are built.

no amp, gain is not a volume knob it is only meant to match the input of the head unit. when you have a 2 v headunit you need to turn the gain up more to match the lower voltage, when you have an 8v like the other poster or 5v like mine, you dont need to put the gain up as much. the othe roption is to buy a line driver like i just sold to someone. My gain on the amp was only at half way. Your talking about subwoofer output on my sub?
yea you were clipping everything, you just need to get a more powerful amp and set the gains correctly, what model, does it have the 4v outputMines a Kenwood.

Ninja edit. Wasn't referring to your poast.please explain, since he has a kenwood
it has 2v output, not a great headunit but will be fine with a better amp for your sub, not saying audiopipe is horrible, but for your setup it is not good. audiopipe is great for output at 1 ohm ona budget but you get what you pay for. you have a great sub that wants power give it and you will be fine and much ahppier. get the lanzar and gokdc-mp345u
Clear something up for all of us though, is the setting that you have called bass boost or subwoofer? Usually the subwoofer setting is okay to have up, but I have also never owned a Kenwood. Your ground looks fine but make sure that both of the coils read well individually. I blew the power supply of a SAZ-4500 because one of the coils on one of my woofers was open. Everything read fine at the amp though.kdc-mp345u
preamp voltage is only 2v.. which *****. This cd player is relatively old, was 200$ when I bought it.
