Ab VFL150.1

im just curious. a guy offered to trade me a American Bass VFL 150.1(rated @ 1 ohm) for my Soundstream dtr3400.1(rated @ . 5 ohm). i run my system at 1 ohm seeing i have a dual 2 sub. so i am need power at 1 ohm instead of .5 ohm. so i wondering if it would be worth trading.

Now ive been using the search buttons and ive seen alot of drama and what not over American Bass amp ratings. ive seen so many different ratings via search and google and peple going back and forth about someones rating being wrong or something. So can anyone that knows American Bass tell me what these amps VFL150.1's will actually put out.

i do have upgraded HO alt now thats 220a and tested 248amps @ 2k rpms.

so anyone who knows American Bass Pls help me out.

Id stick with what you have. you probably wont here a difference and you cab add another sub later if you want more

seeing i do compete from time to time i know i wont hear a difference. how ever the Vfl's can be ran at .5 ohm as well. and trust me im not buying another 18. i like running single sub setups.

I have the VFL 120.1 in my demo car currently.....It's rated at 2200 rms @ 1 ohm..............I clamped it when I first got the amp.....It done 1330 watts @ 2.3 ohms (rise of 1.3) (wired @ 1 ohm)...... my voltage in the car was low 12s at the time......I haven't clamped it since I have gotten my XS D3400.......

hell it only has a 200amp draw for the amp. with this alt i shouldnt see much voltage drop at all

ok im curious. with voltage in the low 12s how big is your alt or was you car off when you did this? i never run my system wit the car off. and i have a new alt and **** with 3 batts.

I would get it, it is much more solid than your current amp. They have been clamped to do rated and than some.

My car was running.......Gain was set with DD1.......I have a 2000 BMW 3 series with the stock alternator and power wire ( 4ga) at the time.......NO AUDIO BATTERIES OR CAPS.....I had the factory battery (which is in the trunk).........Amp was fed with one short run of 0 ga wire....................I am PLEASED with mine..........I need to clamp it again now that I have an extra battery and bigger power wire.......still have stock alternator though!!!! lol

Your alt would have to be much larger to keep up with a 200amp current draw. The reason is because the alt is also powering the truck. Odds are you will see low 12s..maybe lower if you are letting it go for a while.

The gold 150.1 is not a bad amp overall. They will put out some power, but I have not clamped one since they came out and I don't remember what they were doing back then. I do know we used 4 on 4 VFL 15s in a CRX to do mid/high 150's for a buddy. Swapped out to Visonik 4ks and did gain or lose anything.

lol see now im curious of what i can get out it 150.1. i have a HO alt with 3 batts i have a short(about 10inch) run of 2ga pure copper running from back batt to amp(ran out of 0ga lol) im going to beef up my wiring in future an add a couple runs. so what do you think about the trade in your opinion.

I would get that amp......In my opinion the AB VFL series of amps are SOLID.........Pick up the phone and call Chris @ DBR.......I spoke with him right before I purchased the 120.1.....He can give you the 411 on ALL of the major Korean born amplifiers........
