freind runs 3500 watts on stock alternator???

Yeah, its a lanzar so its GOTTA be crap right?

I guess you can go tell the guys that won the street b championships in DB drag 2 years ago (i think) that there amps are junk

Depends on the model of Lanzar. However, I think the only thing capable of 3500w is the 4000D.

I have 2 G31 yellowtops and a measured 4kw w/ the car off. I just upgraded the alty to reduce the strain on the oem.

1 amp is a 6 channel JL audio, used for his rear deck, and doors. ( all JL audio)
2nd amp Lanzar (not sure what model, its all black, logo glows red when on, aprox 18" long) also has dial to adjust the bass output, and it' can't handle anything louder then selection 2-3...

his sub is a 10" JL audio, custom built box.

installed at odyssey car audio, barrie ontario.

I have no reason to lie, I was in the car this morning, he has no cap, no extra battery, and no dimming of the headlights or dash..
first thing is first. no one said you were lying. we are saying your being misinformed by your friend. he is probably looking at a max rating and saying its the rms value.

second i ran a ia 20.1 on a new battery and a 200a alternator and i still got dimming. this amp is known to produce roughly 2400w @ .98 ohms. so if i get dimming with that amp AND a 200a alt hmm...

and third, i would love to see ANY 10" JL sub take 3500w for extended periods of time.

i get slight dimming with my setup (when im beating for over an hour) and i have 1 orion 1200d and 1 redtop batt up front. my alt is a 140amp bosch alt. and at idle im at 14.7 volts. but when bass hits it drops to 13.4 ... so 3500 on stock alt can happen (if he has 4 kinetik 2400.s or nsb 90) but not on one stock batt not gonna happen

80

Not a true 3500w. If you're going to get 3500w off a stock system, your battery will take a nice hit once the alt starts to depend on it. It's possible to get 3500w out of a quick burp, but it's not going to be a all day long thing.

By the black/glowing red description I'm wondering if it's not one of the old VHC amps. A couple of the big ones were monsters, but even with the 6 ch JL I don't know how it could total 3500.

damn george get over yourself... you know a simple formula, gj...

obviously he is misinformed, no 10in JL sub can take 3500w for any extended period of time like mentioned...

get over myself? you gotta be kidding me

i said that the alt has the capacity to put out roughly 1400w...meaning it wont run a 3500w system without having to have the battery back it up when it hits peaks...

he said he didnt get any dimming...if voltage doesnt drop, then you dont get dimming. and if the voltage didnt drop, hes not pulling nearly enough power to strain his electrical system...hence he isnt getting 3500w....

yes its a simple forumla, so use it?

edit: i said i wanted to know why he claims his knowledge of a car electrical system is exponentially greater than mine.
