free air subs?

I have two friends that have a 350z and we are about to be installing some systems in them. both ideally would like to use the hidden spot behind the driver seat with the bracket for a 10" sub. I have no experience with free air subs and trying to find out some suggestions on what subs to use in a free air set-up.

that wont work in that hatchback unless u vent the subs to the out side. a sealed box is your best bet for space saving or a smaller ported setup

Some one sells a bracket that goes in the extra spot that you just mount the sub to. Wanting to know if anything mounted in this fashion will sound good.

its more than the bracket to make it sound good. you have to completely enclose the rear of the speaker and separate the rear wave fro the front wave and the rear chamber needs to be like 300x the vas

so basically if they want something to sound good they are gonna have to ditch the idea of using the 15 dollar bracket idea and **** it up and lose some trunk space. I had no idea what to tell them about using that space so i decided to ask on here. thanks for help

its trade off man a trunk car can use infinite baffle cars alot easier than hatches cause the trunk acts like a really big speaker box you can do the same in a hatch but it is alot harder. a nice 8 in a good ported box can surprise u as far as output goes and its would only take up like 1 cube in the hatch. then again a good 10s are much more plentiful and only require a little more room

or you could do a 6 1/2 in sub or 2 and save even more space and still have some output, like this: DDAudio: SW6.5 | DD Audio

sealing off the sub in stock position is a problem if you need to swap out the fuel pump. If you use that spot you will need to seal it off as well as you can.

last time i did an install in a z i took a p3 10 in a .75 custom sealed box in that hole a cut the factory grill an mounting the fosgate grill there
