Found my next sub, FI Q 15" Sealed

The jl would appreciate a good ported box yes. Get someone to help you with the design and then go to lowes or Home Depot. They will cut the wood for you if needed, screw and glue, cut sub hole, jam out. Building a box can seem hard at first but speaking first hand I promise after you get the hang of it you'll never want to pay someone again.
Yes and no. HD or Lowes. Either will have unsquared standup saws. I have gotten wood from there and was off by as much as 1/4". I'll have them cut it down so it's managable and I'll cut the pieces at home myself.

Its the more precise cuts i have a hard time with. Also measuring and marking so precisely not a strong suit either. I just now finally made a work bench to house all my tools. Its is pretty ghetto, held together by expensive long screws and majorly warped wood i picked up from here and there. And after looking at the price of just some of the tools to form the hole, its daunting to say the least. Especially if i only use some of it once

Which version x 15's?

Agreed. Have to keep a eye out and see how they are cutting. And v1s with spl cone. Box is 9.25 after all displacements tuned to 31 with a 10" aero. 1" and 1 1/2" dowel rod braced vertically and front to back, double baffle and will be strapping two cab 1600s at one ohm, so .5 each, for now and going to see how they do and pray they do not give the white ghost. Build is still a little ways from finished. Traded in my old truck about a month in a half ago and underestimated the process of starting over completely. In the last stretch now. Finishing doors, mounting amps, building Beauty panel to hide my mixed match batts box there, buddy gave me the kinetic after upgrading and I couldn't say no to a basically free kinetic 2000 that is in great shape and holds voltage like a champ.

At worst if they enforce it(mine doesn't) it's 50 cents a cut after 2 cuts. But for a extra few $ it's worth it. Just use 3/4 mdf or any hardwood really. I used pine and have before with no issues. But ideally mdf or birch ply is the way to go. Mdf is heavy. And for your sub hole grab a ruler if available(I work for schools so not a issue) and let's say you need a 14" hole drill a hole in the 1 and 8 inch marks since 7 is half of 14. Mark your center points and then use a nail and a pen and hold the nail on the center mark with the nail in the 1" spot them put your pen in the 8" spot and while keeping the nail/screw in place make your circle. Now it may be 14 and 3/4 of a inch but just a tip. And worse case scenario you get enough wood for two boxes in case you mess up. Still cheaper than a shop.

The fi q and a properly designed box should do it. Cone area for the win.

Hmm just now saw that. You guys are all very convincing. Ok ok. I have the next 3 weeks off. I think i will give this ported enclosure a try. And ill post pictures of everything and how its setup so far

I seriously didnt like the old FI Q 15s with the UFO ferrite motor. Not sure how the new neo ones sound like so i cant comment but i really hated the old one. Inefficient and weak. Was miles louder with a shok industries triton 15
