Ford Ranger System

Hey all, i've been reading around here for a bit and this is finally my first post.

I have a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT (2 doors but with a supercab), so stock it has four 6x8s. I plan on doing some stuff to it soon including a new sound system. I'm going for a somewhat budget friendly SQ system, but one that has some pretty serious volume. I say SQ loosely though - I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile and I probably won't be going all out with dynomatting the whole truck and what not.

So what I have planned so far:

-Alpine CDA-9884

-Fi Q 12" Sub in a custom sealed box

-AQ1200D amp to power the sub

So what I need help with is a set of speakers for the front (I'll be taking out the rear speakers). I'll be able to mount in 6.5's in there so I think I'm looking for a pair of 6.5 components and an amp to power them? Correct me if I'm wrong with this - again looking for decent SQ with some decent volume as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Ford Rangers only have 5x7's in the front, and 6x9's in the back. I'm doing a build right now on a 94 ranger making door pods. Because I don't think it's possible to fit 6.5's in the stock door location. But maybe I'm wrong. Lol.
Here's the link to the door pods.

And here's the link to the sub stage buildup.

Hope this helps some.
they run 5x7/6x8's in the front and rears...the 6x9's won't fit...you can't go wrong with the Pioneer REV series 5x7 6x8 ...the crossover network is top quality....and the build quality is great...not to mention the amazing sound

i just bought 6.5 components for my ranger. if it wasnt 10 below all week i would have had em in already and i could tell ya how well my they fit.

I just wasn't sure. However, the guy that owns the ranger I'm working on now cut out the back speaker holes and put 6x9's in no problem. Of course that was when he had 4 12's under the cargo "tarp", but now that I built him a wall, we just took them out since you couldn't have heard them anyway. Haha.

It's not too hard to fit 6.5'' speakers in there. Ranger doors have a decent amount of room.
