My amp keeps turning off, for no apparent reason

i have an Alpine MRV T-420 hooked up to an old school kicker comp CVR, i bought the system from my brother and it hit pretty **** hard in his car(96 crx) but in mine(98 dodge neon), whenever i try and crank the volume and wang the sub my amp turns off, the longer i drive, quicker it shuts off, well the blue LED turns red which according to alpine means incorrect wiring, see local alpine dealer.

im not sure what the sub is set at(4 or 2 ohms) but when i get home tonight im going to check and change it, see if there is a difference.

can you explain that idiotproof english, load being the current from the battery? i just replaced the battery a month or so ago.... that should be fine

ground wire is fine, ill check the voltage when i get home.... hopefully my buddy lets me borrow his multimeter

Yeah impedance is probably too low, check your + and - leads in resistance setting with a DMM and it should give you your resistance, which is probably below what the amp is stable down to.

Im pretty sure the sub has a 2 ohm coil, and you bridged your amp into 2 ohm, and the amp cant take that load. Try wiring the sub into one channel, and if it doesnt turn off then most likely your sub has a 2 ohm coil.

CVR's are dual voice coil, either D4 or D2

Oh yeah my bad, idk why I thought of just a regular comp. Ok so most likely your sub has the coils in parallel, and both the D4 and D2 will make an impedance too low to run your amp bridged with.

thanks it works great now, ****ing wangs compared to b4 i just gotta tune the amp in bass sounds like shit, if you got some pointers on how to dail that amp in just right lemme know
