Ford Ranger 2004 speakers.

Buddy of mine is looking to upgrade his Ranger's stock system. He wants a good set of comps to run off the headunit only. He is looking in the 500-900 range for the speakers.

What would you recommend as he is gonig to be running off the HU alone?

Not sure on the HU choice yet, but just figure semi high-end as its how he normally goes. Should be getting 24rms at the least.

In my opinion its not worth spending 500+ dollars on speakers if you are only going to run them on deck power. 15w RMS isn't going do what he wants, if he is willing to spend 900 on speakers.

I think its a typo, $50-$90 probably.

Not a typo. He wants to buy high end speakers but doesn't want to run the wires for an amp or have all that extra stuff. I'm not saying he HAS to spend 900, but he would.

What would be a good recommendation? He should get 25rms I would imagine, I know its not TONS, but on a good set of speakers, it should be enough. He doesn't need loud, just clean.

well since he is not willing to run amp wires.. i doubt the time will be taken to properly deaden and seal area and mount the speaker right so getting a high end component set is going to be pointless.

respond well to headunit power and sound pretty good. No reason to spend that kind of money for headunit power.

you can get an adapter to convert to 5.25" but that would reduce your woofer area.
