For those of you with just 1 sub...

I thought I would end up buying another one to pair up but now I feel it's unnecessary... One seems plenty loud and is way louder then the 2 12"s it replaced //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It all depends on what kind of car you have( size wise per say ) which way the subwoofer is facing, and what quality subwoofer it is. I sold my old subs to my friend and they sucked so bad in my car, and then we put them in his 2 door grand am, and they sound ba, so in reality, what might sound great in mine, might sound like crap in yours, the single l7 might be loud, but it all depends if the trunk is sealed, and what kind of music you listen to, if you listen to rock and metal, go with a sealed box, the smaller the quicker the sub can keep up with the drums, but if you like rap or more electrical music, go with the ported for the low lows. its all based on your car type and sound preferance. My single ported 555 is way way way louder and cleaner then my old 12's ported with out a doubt.

I run a single 12' type R in a Ford escape. I can get quite loud. I am upgrading though to a Boston G-5, but thats for sound quality reasons. I do agree that it depends on what kind of vehicle you have, but for me, a single 12 properly powered is enough.

I went from dual installs to single installs and back now to a dual install... I will admit, I like single sub setups better as I can have a little extra space in my trunk for stuff.

It is good that I have 2 boxes so I can go back to a single sub set up whenever I want to, my subs will even match up to my amp in either configuration, both together at 2 ohms, or 1 sub at 4 ohms.

I am thinking that sooner or later, I will get tired of having so much weight in my trunk and go back to a single sub setup, my 10" subs are around 48 lbs each, plus my 70 to 75 lbs box and the 15 lbs amp strapped to the back of the box..... that box is a little heavy lol!

I recently added another IDmax to my IB setup. One was more than enough for me, but I'm just too lazy to switch back to one. I even have my 2 subs tuned down to sound like one because overpowering bass will make your system sound like arse.

It depends on how loud you want it to be. That would be a loud daily setup for most people. Now me for example would need more. If I was to do a 1 sub setup it would be 1 15 or 18" sub that can take a ton of power and be in the mid 40's to low 50's. Such as a AQ HDC3 or a FI BTL. But for me even that was not enough I am going with 2 of the original HD3 15's, all american, and 4.5-5kw on the pair. As I said how intense and loud do you want it?
