I'm am planning on changing my system to run active. I figure i'd give it a try since i have a 9835 and capable to. What I want to know is that crossover points you most of you guys use when going active. Or would all that depend on the tweeters and mids.

i have set of Arc Kar 265, and a set of Memphis mcsync 6.5". I have two 2 channel amps. would it be okay if i ran the tweets off of one amp and the mids off of the other. i.e. right mids of arc's and memphis on the right channel and the lefts on the left channel and the same goes for the tweeters. would that be okay?

well the crossover points are gonna be different for everyone. no one can tell you where to set them. what works for one person, could sound shitty for another.

just have to play around with it.

as for the amps, have a dedicated amp for the mids and a dedicated amp for the tweets. it'll work alot better. but as long as you have it set up to where you can control the tweets and mids seperately from the hu, you'll be fine.

also take into consideration, reflection, time-alignment, phase, off-axis response and imaging.

as dkguitarist said every setup will be different. speaker mounting locations; frequency response and so on all make a difference. General starting points are usually sub 80 on down, mids 80 or 100 - 3.2 k then depending on your tweeter specs tweets 3.2-4 k on up. Like I said those are general specs, after tuning my car my crossover frequencies are radically different then the starting points I gave you but that is what works in my install.

yeah i'm gonna need tweeters that'll xover pretty low to match my xxx mids. is there an fs chart for the rs tweeter? (rs28A?)

you'll need a midrange to x-over low enough for the xxx mids //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

lol. so i hear. but won't have anything set up as i'm still gathering pieces together. then wait on money. then do kicks and sub boxes. i'm very impatient and waiting sucks ***. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Just because an fs chart says that a tweeter can play that low doesn't mean that it will sound good doing it. The only tweeter that I have personally heard that sounds good anywhere near that low is a hlcd (horn). How high can you play the XXX mids on the top end before you hear break up or it just doesn't sound good?
