focal sub p 30, alpine sws 12d2, or boston acoustics G2 ftw?

I definitely would skip Alpine SWS-12 if the goal was to use it in a sealed box. Sealed box qtc is not very good. qtc of almost 1 in a 1cu ft box. 0.9 for 1.5 cu ft box. High qtc affects transient response. The Alpine SWS-10 and SWS-15 have good qtc in a reasonable sized box, but Alpine dropped the ball on the latest SWS-12 IMHO. However, since you're thinking ported, perhaps it would do better in a well designed ported box. If you bump your budget a little, perhaps you could get a couple of Dayton's RSS HO12 subwoofers, which are confirmed for good SQ, sealed or ported box.

You will not find better SQ than the Dayton reference line for the price. Hell, even for much more its hard to beat.
I ran a couple of the 10s in a tiny ported box and LOVED them.
So im guessing if i would'nt have told you that i was dead set on focal, boston, or alpine this is the sub you would have suggested in the beginning huh?

I'm a little late to the party but I would get the Bostons. They are very under rated at 300rms, they have a 2.5in coil and well designed cooling, I'm running 900rms to a pair of G1 12s as my winter beater subs. G1's are only rated for 200rms ea. The G1s imo have the best sq out of all the Boston subs and are honestly the best sounding subs I have ever heard. They will get fairly loud too, I pulled 139db sealed on the dash with 900rms and did a hair past 140db with little test when I dropped them in a friend's car with a mtx 1501d.

I ran 1400rms to a pair of G5 12s and managed a best of 142.5db sealed on the dash

actually the boston g1's were my first choice because sonicelectronix is running a deal on a preloaded boston ported enclosure with two g1's and a gt 2125 for $330 shipped....i just wasnt sure how it would sound being the entry level sub and a class ab 2 channel amp so that's what set me on the quest of a comparable setup. those are some very impressive numbers that you're putting out with those just being your winter subs and i've heard nothing but good so far about the boston's. im assuming you have a ported enlosure correct? how big is it?

price is a little steep for that combo, I ould get the gt2125 by itself and the g1's by themselves then build a custom box. The G1s have a low fs to begin with and it drops even more once they break in. My G1s are tuned to 31hz right now and they have no problem getting low, they still do 132db @25-26hz.

Here's a vid of them- pay close attention to the my window glass flexing on the lows:

no bro, i think those are awesome subs i really do....just a lil bit out of my price range as far as the other subs that im considering. Im trying to cut a deal with a seller on ebay for a set right now but i dont think im going to get him to come down on the price at all that's why im still looking at other options too but dont think im not listening to you i really like the looks of that sub AND your willingness to vouch for them
