Focal 165vr vs Hertz 165XL

which is louder and clearer? Hertz 165XL or Focal 165vr???

i have talked to 2 people about them and one says the 165vr is louder and the other says 165xl is louder lol....so i fugured i would ask the forums.....

im not familiar with Focal's numbering system... that's just the Polyglass 6.5'' right? i heard those back to back with the Hertz HSK165.4 (nonXL). Focals are more open and balanced but the sound doesnt have much "life" in them. The HSKs are a little bass-heavy and lack a teeny bit of midrange but the sound is much more musical. From what a read, the XLs should be much better than the regular HSK set, improved mid driver and different, larger tweeters too

I had the Focal 165VR and Hertz HSK165 before, Hertz SQ are better but the Focal can control better,

example: on the Focal set all music will sound the same (not perfect SQ but all good).

on the Hertz set some song sound perfect and some song sound not as good.

If you ask me? I take the Focal.

I have the 165vr's and they don't ever sound "bad" plus they get louder than I could possibly need.

I have the 165VB's and if you don't mind a metal tweeter, they do their job.

I love the HSK XL's but for the price the Focal Polyglass' are keeping me happy. Decent mid and very detailed tweeter.

After auditioning them both, back to back. I went with the Hertz. Matter of preference really. I like mine to carry that little bit of extra bass. You can't go wrong with either.
