i recnently pulled up my rear carpet in my car to prepare for deadener when i saw that apparently the person that owned the car before me sprayed some kind of foam deadener or something(expandable foam). well i can't seem to get it off the steel and would appreciate any insight or suggestions.

Can you get pics, and what do you mean by foam. Like Ant's Rattle Pad foam or? With more info I should be able to help.

Guess I missed the expandable part. I would personaly try a heat gun as suggested, and also get some kind of a scraper... like a big razor blade to also help get the stuff off, or a chisel.

So ummmm whats your favorite car audio brand? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif I have that radio by the way (alpine rocks). Anyways back to the queston, a grinder is a good way to get that stuff out, prob not the best way, but it would work

yeah i tried a scrapper and chisel which got of the larger pieces, but there is still areas where it was attached. i really need to get it off so i can deaden that area. i will give acetone a try, and also try my heat gun and see if that does anything.
