fixing melted V.C. on alpine type r

so yeah... just as the title says.... the positive terminal on the far right side of the 4 plug ins just melted all the way through and i cant send it back even though its under warranty because car toys said "i abused it"... which in all honesty is completly true... but how do i fix it? maybe cut it open and sauder new metal all the way through??

That's not the coil, that's the terminal. That is IMO most likely manufacturer defect since the actual coil should burn first if it were an over-powering issue. Anyway, you may be able to gob some solder on there and fill that gap, if that doesn't work you can toss it, or try your luck with a type R recone kit available on eBay.
