first year of college:on campus or off??

Gotta do the dorm first man. You dont wanna miss out on that part. You got a lot of time to do the apartment thing. And also if thats guys not the brightest bulb in the bunch and you've got a good feeling he wont hang in there, dont take the chance because he probably wont. I know a few people that got evicted because roomates left and they couldnt handle the extra rent. I vote dorm.

i'd go w/ the apartment but thats because im not big into wanting to party, i figure if im going to school im there to get my education rather than waisting the opportunity i have been given. maybe im jus getting old, or im too responsible. who knows

x2!!!!!!!!!!

Living on campus and joining a frat will almost guarantee you a fun freshman year //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

I met my wife in my freshman dorm. She's about 2 or 3 leagues outside of mine (me = ugly, her = hottness). Wilder shit happens in the dorms than you would think. Plus, if you predict an impending drug or alcohol bust, you just give your shit to the guys next door for the night and walk away clean.

definately on. went to ohio university, good times........ havent read the forum so dont know how close you are to the school but unless your permanet residence is within like 30 miles most colleges make you live on campus your freshman and soph year. i know OU and ohio state both did.

x3!!!
All the gay buttsecks you could ever imagine, and some!
Joining the right fraternity will definetly get you more involved on campus, meet the right people, volunteer opportunities, leadership opportunities, etc... I used to hate on fraternities also, until I joined one. Best choice I've ever made, and I couldn't imagine having it any other way now.

Get out of here with your stereotypical bullshit.

Exactly the same here. I had a TON of stereotypes until I actually joined one and it's been one of the best choices I've made as well.

Stereotypical...ok...I've had 5 friends join fagternities...one ended up in the hospital because they made him drink to no end and run around in 10 degree weather in his underwear, in the snow, and 4 completely alienated all of their real friends, one was placed on academic probation, and subsequently kicked out. The only one that I still talk to, who was in a frat, said it was the worst decision he had made while at college, and if he could go back, he'd never have pledged.

Oh, and this isn't at some party school either, this is from one of the best science universities in NY state.
