so im new to this whole advanced car audio thing and am almost done gathering what i need for my install, before i ask my question let me share what i already have...

Alpine CDA-9886 H/U

Alpine SPR-17C 6.5 2ways (rear)

Alpine SPR-17S Comps.

Alpine MRP-M500

now my questions...

for my mids/highs ive been reading and ppl have been saying the 17S comps need more than 100rms to reach full potential, now what im thinking is... does anyone here have experience with the F600 (4x100 rated)?? is it maybe a little underrated and will make the 120rms im looking for? and then ill be able to suppy my rears about 90rms??? OR... would i be better off with 2 F300's (150x2 bridged)??

Now for the lows....

at first i got this m500 cause i was gonna use a couple 12w0's and feed them 300

\rms @4ohm total (rated 125 each)... but im getting sucked into this aarrrrgggghhhh black hole and am now considering 2 12" R's ported on a M1000... if i would go for the R's what would be the best box configuration for an integra? (cu.ft.? port tuning?) i tried looking at the box plans but most are lil red x's for me... and i know everyone here gives their R's 7-800rms but will 500 each be "good enough" for a car audio noob?? Lastly what is the main audible difference between between the 12w0's in a sealed JL box and the R's ported?

remember i new to this and sorry if i ask a dumb question but im just trying to make my first audio build decent and do it right the first time:toast:

any help/criticism/comments will be positively taken... thanks

If you're wanting loudness for the bass, the R's ported will be the better option. 4-5 cu. ft. tuned anywhere from 30-36hz would sound good for the lower notes. And 500rms will probably be ok for starters, but you should put some more power to them.

And you'd probably be better off running the 4 channel if you still want to run rear speakers. Running two 2 channels might draw more current than one amp, depending on the amp though.

The set up is looking good. It's makes me smile to know some people don't think a system is just subs. Good work! Personally I'd go JL sealed. The bass will be a little tighter and more accurate. It will still be loud. 100RMS / channel should be just right to make the comps shine. You'll love the accuracy of those comps.

I've heard the alpine comps are a bit harsh so you might want to consider something else. Image Dynamics, rainbow, pioneer premier make some nice sets.

As for your amps, you could probably get a used sundown SAX-100.4 and a SAZ-1000d for about the same money. But if you're dead set on those amps, they should be fine.

But the stuff you first picked out is good, these are just some other options.

Seriously? I think these have one of the worst tweeters ive ever heard...midbass is good tho.

Sounds like you are wanting an SQ setup, i would possibly go with a couple of jl w3v2's sealed.
i havent been in many cars that have different set ups, how would you guys describe the differince in how bass sounds coming from a sealed vs a ported box? is one type the kind that you hear from a block away? im not really looking for ppl to hear me from so far.... what is better for me?

also, what kind of amp would you guys recomend for the mids and highs? around 125x4 rms??..........

something else i was thinking about, what if i use the hifonics 1600x1 @ 1ohm for the 2 R's, a bridged alpine f300 for the comps and just run the coax's for the rear off the deck? does that sound like it would work out pretty good? Anybody in here got pics of boxes for 2 12's in a 2 door 94-01 integra?
