First-Time Beginner Build

Thanks, just wanted to make sure I wasn't being retarded with my electrical math.

You need to work on your reading comprehension, man...

I'm still looking for some advice on Obsidian vs. SSA DCON subs. I found one thread about this, but the only thing I got out of it was "I heard DCONs have nice SQ". I'll probably go with the DCONs unless I get some more info.
Obsidian vs Dcon are 2 different realms. They are both subs designed for great SQ, and will perform well in sealed or ported enclosures. The Obsidian is rated for 600w, and will easily take at least 1kW of power. The Dcon are rated for 300w and usually take 400 or 500w of power. Also, the Obsidians are only available in 12" and 15". Either will have adequate SQ, I assure you. I'd be more concerned with what you need power handling wise, and size wise. If you're using that NB Quartz 1500w amp, I'd be looking at the Obsidians, assuming you can fit either 12's or 15.

jst saying just cause u paid 138 doesnt mean he made any money. and besides he just upped his install price so he still made about the same. take the difference in out install prices and add it to what you paid per amp and u still paid 180 an amp which is only 5 bucks from our price. and why would it be a shame go price other mini amps in its class. but hey i make money everyday like this. my installs are why im in business not my prices. my customers pay for quality installs with quality equipment and leave happy.
so how much do you sell the PBR ? I mentioned 150 in the beginning not to divulge how much this PBR actually cost but you forced me to post it, by almost calling me a liar.

The price he quoted me of $99 for 4awg and $79 for 8awg is including the amp kit, tax is the only thing added?

My bad birthsheet is 91 instead of 94 still way higher than 75x4

i retail me pbr 300s for 185 a piece and the 500 is 300 due to the increased price for me. i cannot legally tell u what i pay for them i would lose my authorization to sell them. i nevver said you lied just asked you to prove your statement because thats the highest number that wouldve come out of those amps that im aware of and you even said you were mistaken and im not going any further with this as it shouldve never even been posted in here and i apologise to the op for that

pbr 300 retail 185 / pre markup *4 and some change . unless you did a 20+ order then you got them around *0-*3 and some change apiece direct. and if you paying more than that you are getting screwed. have some people here local that slipped up lol... btw is usually dependant on how long you have been a dealer for them on price and how many you order at a time for discounts.. last statement is for the ones that cry about markup.

yea i know he just doesnt want to pay markup, but if i didnt have any markup i wouldnt be able to cover my overhead. most of my labor goes straight to the installers the rest gets put up for rainy slow days. any markup goes towards overhead and the little bit left is my spending change. and i still have a second job so its not like im trying to rip people off

You do relize birth sheets are BS. With that low of power what do you think you are getting at 14.2v? They dont tell you what freq they get that rating. With rise and voltage drop you will be lucky to get 60 watts out of that amp on an average day. Dont fall for the marketing BS, CEA and birth sheets.

Keep in mind that MB Quart, Hifonics, Autotek and Crunch are all under Maxxsonics. I bring this up because OP was advised not to buy Hifonics amps.
Just saying.........MAXXSONICS HIFONICS CRUNCH AUTOTEK MB QUART //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
These amps are just fine for the average user as long as you know what lines to look at... Who informed you of this?

Yeah I know people don't understand why there is markup and about overhead and profit.. average profit is between 30-45% unless the dealer is just ripping people off. the local dealer he pays about 1/3rd of what he sales them for which is a rip off which is why I don't shop at the dealers here.

It's been a few days since my last post, so I figured I'd post an update. I ordered my front comps and 4-channel amp last Thursday, just waiting for them to arrive now. In the meantime, I've been trying to figure out the rest of the stuff I need to know for installation. I will probably be doing the Big 3 upgrade before anything else (not looking forward to it; my alternator is in a really hard-to-reach place, as far as I can tell...), and I figure I might as well use 1/0 gauge wire for this. I've seen KNU recommended a lot when it comes to wiring, but most of their products seem to be on the expensive side.

However, I'm unsure as to what gauge wire I should run to my amp. Eventually, I'm going to have a total maximum RMS of about 2100W between the MB Quart ONX4.80 4-channel and ONX1.1500D monoblock. Although I don't expect to use that much power, I may very do so with 2 obsidian subs... but I also want some room to upgrade and I don't want to have to replace the wire if I ever get a better amp.

Also, I'm still kinda lost when it comes to sound dampening. I've looked at a couple different brands but haven't found many how-to's when it comes to measuring how much I'll need or how to correctly use it.

So, these questions remain: Where can I get some good budget wire for my Big 3 upgrade? What amp wiring/installation kits should I be looking at? What kind of sound dampening products should I be looking at and how do I determine how much I'll need?

Good luck on the build, if you could spare some money for quality wire, KNUKonceptz wire for the big 3 would probably set you pretty good (1/0gauge) it runs about 3.95/foot just figure out how many feet you need for that.

On wiring kits I'm using a 4gauge kicker kit which I'm pleased with (not sure how overpriced that is to regular) but you can get a KNU1/0Wiring kit for like 90 or so.
