Please help me out!!
I want to build my own subs. Big fan of the TC Sounds stuff and I always go with sealed boxes. After lurking around for awhile, I could use some help. I will purchase a caliper to ensure the motor/basket/VC mate up.
I'm looking to build 2-10" subs for sealed boxes. My goal would be good low-end reproduction and output. I guess my preference would fall into the SQL catagory (if that exists). I listen to bass heavy music from blues to dub-step. This isn't exactly a budget build, but I would like to keep costs down. The subs will be seeing around 600 watts RMS each, so I don't need to build them for monster power.
The current plan is:
-Motor: TC9 (or something else born out of suggestions)
-Basket: TC Sounds or similar (not really into the basket look, it will be hidden in a sealed box)
-Voice Coil: Depends on the motor, but 3" DVC if I go with the TC9, love to have D4 for each sub so I can make the most of an amp. I have no idea what material is the best for the VC in my application. Aluminum, copper, ..... also, I don't know the benefit of underhung vs overhung coils.
-Spider: Not hip on what to look for here
-Cone/Surround: Not sure what cone material will meet my goals and what's easily available.
Let me know what you think and why. My "current set up" is in my daily driver, these subs will go into a 4Runner that has no bass and it's killing me! I'm going with 10's to keep cargo space. Really need help with the motor and I will build from there. Thanks a bunch!
