i guess you can call it a project car, its my old 91 mustang notch thats wrecked. it has a 2.3L in it, but im gonna put a new motor in it, no...not a v8, still an inline 4 its just gonna be turbo'd. hehe but who here has had a shop rebuild an engine? I dont know what type of shop to send it to. Does it have to be an engine shop or can it just be a machinist.

it should only have about 200hp, im keeping the engine at stock specs.

T5 ******-$100+800 for a rebuild

Aluminum Driveshaft-$200

Axles/gears-junkyard 8.8" stock ratio- $100-300 really i could leave the driveshaft and rear end stock, but the 7.5" i have now is pretty weak.

i have about 5-6 grand to play around with, so im trying to restore the whole car, inside and out.

 
If you're wanting to stay with that same 2.3L displacement engine have a look through your local classifieds and/or possibly junkyards (if you have any handy...they're common as grass here in Louisiana) and see if you can find one of the Thunderbird Turbo Coupes or a Merkur XR4Ti. Both were 2.3L turbocharged cars. A buddy of mine bought an XR4Ti with a blown turbo but otherwise solid drivetrain for a song and then built it up a bit for not a lot of cash and turned it into a v8 killer. Ugly as the day is long (I never liked either of the Merkur models sold stateside) but it'll surprise the heck out of ya with how much pull it's got from 1900-5300 rpm in every gear.
